Job Title: Data Analyst

Location: Woods Hole, MA, Orno, ME, Narragansett, RI, Milfold, CT, Sandy Hook, NJ

Description (scope of work)

IBSS is seeking a full time Data Analyst to provide data analytical and statistical support to fisheries monitoring and research efforts.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide lifecycle support of data analysis projects and products that ensure compliance of baseline policies and procedures and data standards and governance.
  • Possess a broad knowledge of platforms and operating systems, programming languages, statistical approaches, and data visualization.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in data to track performance and progress of fisheries monitoring and research efforts, and make recommendations for operational improvements.
  • Respond to data requests on time and within scope and prioritizes confidentiality and security requirements.
  • Extend the use of data to bridge capability gaps and enable data-driven decision making, and enhance the value of the collected data.
  • Maintain all code using Git and Github, and create and maintain technical and user documentation for all developed data analytical products.
  • Utilize Agile Development in cooperation with team members, and participate in daily Scrum and bi-weekly Sprint close/open.
  • Work in concurrence with the IT Security Officer (ITSO) to maintain and implement security requirements.
  • Contribute to/and maintain documentation for a Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) library in the areas of data analytics for all projects.

 

Required Skills /Education/ Certifications & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) + years demonstrated experience in data analytics or a related field; B.S\B.A in Computer Science desired.
  • Preferred programming languages, libraries, frameworks and technologies include, but not limited to: Windows, R and RStudio, R Shiny, Python, MS Excel, Tableau, SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, MySQL, SQLite, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, AWS, Google Cloud Platform.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Agile development experience such as Scrum or similar methodology.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and organized with strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated success working in a team environment that includes flexibility working with a team in an organization that is dispersed; coordinating with the work of others; facilitating interactions among team members with diverse skill sets.
