Disney Streaming Services (DSS) is seeking a Data Analyst and Visualization Engineer to support the design, build, and testing of business reporting. The role will visualize and develop dashboards, scorecards, and executive reports that enable visibility and quick insights into their rapidly growing and expanding business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop meaningful, efficient dashboards and visualizations using Tableau
  • Work with the business to improve and customize reports that fit their needs
  • Translate complex reporting needs into technical specifications, including calculations, custom groups, parameters, filtering criteria, aggregations, etc
  • Recommend best practices from both a technical and process perspective as related to Tableau development
  • Tune complex workbooks and large datasets for optimal performance and maintainability
  • Adhere to SDLC practices, complete appropriate documentation and provide user training as necessary
  • Troubleshoot issues as they occur, identify criticality and impact, and provide appropriate workarounds
  • Work directly with Tableau for support, ticket resolution, feature requests, and defect tracking
  • Design and deliver end-user training and training materials for top management as well as operational teams; provide technical support as necessary
  • Work with large datasets to produce Tableau content that is both efficient and responsive
  • Serve as a second in command for Tableau Server administration tasks
  • Collaborate with BI Engineers seeking solutions for data/table structures in order to optimize for Tableau
  • Lead and create tech talks, blogs, demos and training on data visualization best practices and how to implement them across business units

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience using Tableau
  • Strong development skills in Tableau and data analytics and visualizations
  • Expert in data extraction using SQL or Python
  • Knowledge and experience with Tableau software (Desktop, Server, Online) with a strong understanding of Tableau architecture
  • Ability to simplify highly complex analyses into terms that are easily accessible and impactful for both written and verbal formats
  • Expert knowledge of best practices in data visualization
  • Experience working with numerous different data sources and knowledge of Tableau data source design for optimization
  • Experience troubleshooting problems with both Tableau Desktop and Server
  • Experience developing and delivering Tableau training, managing and tracking end-user requests and troubleshooting Tableau challenges
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work with both business users and technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in e-commerce, consumer products, retail, publishing, or digital products strongly preferred
  • Experience in customer analytics, including lifetime value analysis, customer propensity, acquisition and retention, forecasting, and customer segmentation
  • Experience with Tableau Administration
  • Experience with distributed databases and query languages like Spark and Scala
  • Relational, no-SQL and/or columnar data experience
  • Tableau Desktop Certified Professional highly desired

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research or a related field
