Data Science Managers (DSMs) design, develop and execute analytic techniques on large, complex, structured, and unstructured data sets (including claims, EHR, registry, and other big healthcare data) to help clients make better fact-based decisions. DSMs will develop new offerings/solutions, drive client impact by delivering client solutions, and shape the ZS point of view in this space.
Responsibilities
- Play a key role in the development of data science capabilities and offerings that create scale and advance their analytic platform for life sciences R&D use cases;
- Provide expertise in architecting and implementing analytical solutions for projects;
- Manage projects and assist in managing stakeholder relationships;
- Direct multiple projects simultaneously, honing analytical and project management skills;
- Motivate, coach and serve as a role model for space team members;
- Provide thought leadership and innovation within projects and across practice areas;
- Partner with R&D service lines to develop new business with existing and new clients;
- Develop and implement specific frameworks for strategy and programs;
- Contribute to ZS’s capability building and knowledge creation;
- Coach, mentor, and conduct training programs;
- Play an active role in team growth-related initiatives (e.g. recruiting, training, etc.).
Qualifications
- Graduate degree (Ph.D. or Masters) in Computer Science, Statistics or related discipline;
- 8+ years of relevant post-collegiate work experience; in lieu of a Ph.D., 10+ years of work experience may substitute;
- Experience with big data/advanced analytics concepts and algorithms (e.g. text mining, social listening, recommender systems, predictive modeling, etc.);
- Relevant programming background (e.g. Java/Python/R);
- Expertise in Life Sciences Research & Development or broader product lifecycle functions preferred;
- Strong understanding of relevant tools/platforms (e.g. Hadoop ecosystem and database systems);
- Proven track record of business development
- Agile project planning and project management experience;
- Team management and skill development experience;
- Relevant domain knowledge preferred; (healthcare/transportation/hi-tech/insurance);
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail, with a research-focused mindset;
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
- High motivation, good work ethic, and maturity.
