What you need to know about the role A successful Senior Data Scientist will build products, lead junior data scientists, and provide subject matter expertise to ensure that they design, implement and deploy a successful fraud solution. This includes machine learning models and data analysis and working with the clients’ business team to explain and design an optimum solution. Meet team PayPal’s Risk as a Service (RaaS) Data Scientists are comprehensive analytical experts who collaborate within a team of technical and business industry experts, ensuring that their customers are successful in their deployments in catching fraud and malicious activities. They continually improve and apply their technical knowledge and analytical skills across the product suite.

Job Description:

Your way to impact
You will work closely with multiple large, strategic customers to consult, design, develop and manage real-time end-to-end fraud risk solutions. You will analyze and transform data using RaaS platforms to identify fraud patterns and optimize the systems to flag these patterns. This will not only identify emerging fraud trends but also provide a great experience to end customers. You will also train the customer on how to understand fraud trends and how to use the PayPal RaaS product.

Your day to day
In your day-to-day role you will

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including product managers and engineering teams to deploy data-driven fraud solutions that operate at scale and in real-time for end customers
  • Serve as a strong subject matter expert on PayPal’s RaaS platforms, as well as developing risk solutions in specific fields (banking, finance, e-commerce, etc.)
  • Mentor and coach junior Data Scientists and Decision Scientists on data analysis, machine learning, design and implementation of fraud detection strategies
  • Collect feedback from clients and work with cross-functional teams to recommend, design, and implement new product features

What Do You Need To Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Mining or related field or equivalent practical experience (MS/Ph.D. Degree would be great!)
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in advanced Data Analysis, Research, Risk and Fraud Investigation, or Internet Industry
  • Experience with Python, SQL, R, or JavaScript
  • Experience with leading, mentoring, and coaching junior team members on data science, data analysis, and designing, implementing projects end to end
