The Position The Media Analytics division is seeking a data scientist to enhance the metrics it delivers to media and brand owners about emotional and cognitive responses to content and brand experiences. This involves mining the huge dataset already collected and working with new algorithms developed via Affectiva’s vision scientists to:
- Develop new metrics that add insight to businesses in new areas not currently utilizing Emotion AI
- Add value to existing clients by generating greater insight from existing data & methods
- Generate new learning about emotional responses that will be used in external marketing Key Responsibilities
- Develop new metrics that add value to media analytics applications based on data from facial classifiers and other machine-learned algorithms – e.g. in ad testing, customer experience, qualitative research, digital or entertainment content development
- Apply statistical modeling, machine learning and/or data mining techniques to mine the world’s largest repository of naturalistic emotion data, to uncover new insights about marketing effectiveness and emotional responses to content.
- Build models that relate Affectiva’s key metrics to behavioral and business outcomes in complex and noisy datasets. (e.g. – which emotion metrics best predict customer satisfaction or ad campaign effectiveness?)
- Maximize the utility of their metrics to prospective clients
- Collaborate on the implementation of relevant database architecture to facilitate the above analysis – particularly contributing to the design, configuration & automation of necessary systems
- Effectively communicate project status, outcomes, and implications to senior internal and external audiences, in a manner that is compelling and accessible to non-experts. May include written and verbal presentations and client contact. (e.g. communicating metrics changes to end clients; presenting or co-presenting results and implications of analyses to senior management or clients).
Qualifications:
- 3+ years’ experience in data science, analytics & statistical analysis. Market research or social science experience is desirable, as is experienced with machine learning.
- Proven ability to use data analysis and modeling to generate business results
- Excellent analytical, creative, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience in Python and R, and strong skills in at least one
- Experience in developing database & analytical systems for large & complex datasets
- Track record in effectively simplifying and working with time-series data
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to convey analytical insights in actionable business terms
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers
- Self-motivated and independent; able to work with minimal supervision to complete tasks
- Ability to be highly effective in working with multiple functional groups and individuals within the company to identify, define, and solve problems
- Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Master’s degree or equivalent work experience in statistics, computer science or related discipline such as mathematics Company Benefits:
