The New Product Experimentation team at Facebook is hiring a technical leader who is passionate about their singular goal: to build products that matter to the world. As the Head of Engineering and Data Science on the New Product Experimentation team, you will be responsible for leading a team of centralized technical functions — engineering, data science, etc. — responsible for building tools and surfacing data insights that empower small, ambitious product teams. This is a unique opportunity to join Facebook, enable new products to find the market fit, and reach massive scale. Their ideal candidate has the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary technical team, build quick scalable technology, and work with executive stakeholders. They are looking for an engineering leader with experience in developing consumer products, engineering systems, and developer tooling (internal or external), working with data science, and experience with security, privacy, or integrity systems for consumer products. The person in this role will support other leaders within the group and will help shape the culture of a world-class development organization. Responsibilities

  • Develop infrastructure that enables rapid iteration and experimentation of new products
  • Support teams in multiple locations
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with global software engineering teams
  • Support teams in their own areas of responsibilities including but not limited to tooling, developer infrastructure, and data science
  • Develop a technical roadmap and vision, with guidance to both your team members and your peers
  • Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement
  • Establish a solid project framework and excellent development processes
  • Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on trust, accountability, in collaboration with the product and management teams
  • Operate strategically and tactically
  • Work on strategy and help set direction while staying on top of the day-to-day software development
  • Help set organizational culture and values

Minimum Qualification

  • 7+ years of working experience on platform technology involving collaboration with internal customer teams
  • 7+ years of experience growing teams, building management and individual contributor bench
  • 7+ years of work experience architecting, developing, and launching software products and/or services
  • 7+ years of experience managing engineering teams including hiring/termination and performance management
  • 3+ years of experience mentoring and supporting senior managers (managers of managers)
  • 7+ years of coding experience in one of the following languages: C++, Java, Python and/or PHP

Preferred Qualification

  • 5+ years of experience with hands-on technical management, release engineering, tools engineering, DevOps, or related area
