TripAdvisor is hiring an experienced Senior Business Analyst for our Cruise Critic web site, the world’s largest cruise reviews website, and a subsidiary of TripAdvisor, Inc. This is a high-impact and highly visible role in the Cruise Critic organization, with an opportunity to both guide their data and analytics strategy as well as roll up your sleeves to create analytics toolsets and reports to empower the business.
The ideal candidate will have both formal training and adaptability to learn new analytics platforms. The role will require interacting with a wide variety of teams including Sales, Finance, Engineering, Marketing, and Product to ensure a best-in-class experience for consumers and partners alike.
What You’ll Do

- Drives strategic plans for the future-state analytics framework
- Leads cross-functional teams to address business issues
- Provides guidance and education to cross-functional teams on using analytics tools
- Communicates the state of projects across teams, stakeholders and executives
- Identifies and proposes ideas to streamline and improve processes
Delivery

- Develops breadth of expertise across business domain and is able to navigate the company’s data warehouse
- Ensures data integrity and analyzes business performance using data across data sources
- Identifies and interprets trends and patterns in datasets
- Produces datasets and reports for analysis using system reporting tools
- Constructs forecasts based on business data
- Prepares functional specifications for product and engineering teams that include business rules, definitions, and data mapping
- Creates specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs
What They Seek
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following competencies:
- 5+ years of professional experience in an analytical role (ideal backgrounds include: a similar business analyst role at a web company, a data-based consulting role, or other data strategy type positions
- Bachelor’s Degree in an analytical field (math, economics, engineering, statistics, etc.). Master’s Degree a plus
- Ability to work with a large dataset and summarize findings in a clear format
- You live in Excel, a SQL client, and a few other useful tools of the data trade. Experience with Tableau or Adobe a plus
- Combine creative and pragmatic use of insight and data with attention to detail
- Proactive not reactive, with ability to work independently in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
- Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple projects at a time
- Ability to take in loose requirements, ask smart questions, and produce high-quality actionable insights
- Confident with learning new tools, technologies, and methodologies
- Ability to work at all levels including senior management; and across multiple functions/departments
- Some programming/scripting ability a huge plus
- Experience with statistical packages such as SAS, R, SPSS, etc. a plus
