Job Description

As a senior member of the data engineering team, you’ll architect and design the data platform to support and implement data applications, including the data warehouse/data lake, data APIs, and reporting systems. You will work on improving data platform performance and reliability. You are passionate about Cloud technologies, data processing, reporting, software engineering and you will work closely with other engineers to improve productivity through automation. This hands-on role focuses on planning, engineering, design, implementation, and managing data services built on cloud SQL and NoSQL databases – across their full life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Systems engineering teams to administer and manage AWS data processing and database systems.

  • Provide Operational support to troubleshoot and address data platform issues.

  • Establish an onboarding approach for new AWS cloud capabilities to support data services.

  • Provide technical guidance to data engineers during design and development for highly complex and critical data projects

  • Implement facilities to monitor all aspects of data pipeline execution and integrate with enterprise tools.

  • Research new technologies relating to data ingestion, data processing, data transformation, data analytics, data management, and database design in order to meet or exceed scalability, performance, reliability, and security requirements.

  • Focus on capacity management of the data platform, and assist development teams on how best to leverage the platform.

  • Establish an onboarding approach for new platforms as they come online.

  • AWS experience and expertise to facilitate their future expansion of these capabilities to the cloud.

  • Provide database design and administration to  AWS database services expertise, specifically Redshift.

  • Strong technical data skills for ad hoc requests (SQL performance tuning, Kafka configuration, AWS data migration expertise, platform cluster design, etc).

Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure providers such as Amazon AWS(preferred), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud

  • Experience with AWS Cloud data stores such as Redshift or Snowflake and one or more NoSQL data stores like MongoDB or Cassandra

  • Experience designing, building and maintaining, and being on-call for software serving internal customers

  • Experience building production-quality systems to work with large amounts of data

  • Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Scala

  • Experience with streaming systems like Kafka or AWS Kinesis.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science with 10+ years of experience in implementing data-related technologies.
