As a key player on the Converse Direct leadership team, you will drive the next phase of our evolution as a consumer-centric, data-driven organization. You will blend art, science and technology to elevate our consumer experiences, optimize our marketing executions and inform our merchandising decisions. This role requires the strategic expertise to bring our consumer centricity approach to life as well as the entrepreneurial roll-up-your-sleeves tenacity to implement.

As the leader of the Direct Analytics organization, you lead the integration of advanced analytics throughout the Direct organization and spearhead initiatives to enable data-driven decisions. You will collaborate closely with Digital Product, Technology, Marketing and our geographic Converse Stores and Digital Direct teams on the deployment of critical analytics toolsets. With your excellent technical expertise, you will inform the consumer data strategy and partner with the Technology team on implementation. Your team will transform data through the application of advanced data modeling techniques to the identification of trends that suggest new business opportunities. Your areas of future impact/projects include areas as diverse as: (a) customer retention marketing strategies (b) the use of performance data to drive improvements to customer experience (c) the development of a full-fledged multichannel view of the Converse customer profile.

Responsibilities Include

  • Direct multiple teams of data science professionals to solve our most complex data challenges and opportunities; manage resources to ensure strategic and operational objectives are met
  • Direct development of models that help us deeply understand and describe our customers in order to drive consumer-focused business growth, e.g. extracting deep interests and behavioral tendencies from event streams
  • Own relationships with diverse business stakeholders to understand current and anticipate future customer and business needs, understand requirements and define relevant strategic questions
  • Ensure continual monitoring of the Converse value chain and external environment to challenge assumptions around new sources of data, application of analytics, machine learning, statistical forecasting, tools, talent, partners, etc.
  • Shape research and analytic plans, developing appropriate quantitative methodologies, and encouraging quality implementation of end-to-end analytics programs
  • Create, guide, mentor, and inspire team(s); managing performance, goals and development potential

Responsibilities Include

  • Set strategy, roadmap, plans and priorities to enable effective development and implementation of advanced analytics insights and creative solutions across multiple areas of the Converse Direct business value stream
  • Create measurement frameworks, develop customer-centric reporting and analyze actionable trends for Converse Direct
  • Partner with technology to incorporate relevant requirements in enterprise data structures and reporting tools. Ensure consistency and reliability in data, metrics, analytics and interpretation of insights.
  • Strengthen customer segmentation and targeting optimization leveraging advanced analytics applied to the data environment that will help drive and impact site experience and performance and brand marketing strategies.
  • Identify opportunities throughout the consumer journey to increase customer acquisition, conversion and retention and drive LTV.
  • Partner with digital experience optimization and Geo teams to advise on consumer experience and conversion optimization opportunities, A/B and multivariate testing, applying best practice and methodologies for true incrementality measurement.
  • Create and deliver impactful presentations for mid-level and senior-level audiences.
  • Size and scope growth opportunities, which should include a business case, a path to growth, an implementation plan, and partnership buy-in.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Decision Science, Applied Math, Econometrics, Behavioral Science or other quantitative discipline. Advanced quantitative degree a plus.
  • 10+ years working in digital measurement & optimization, data science and/or advanced analytics with a track record of delivering insights and business impact.
  • Experience with advanced analytic techniques, such as marketing mix, predictive modeling, multivariate regression analysis and ROI measurement.
  • Experience solving difficult, non-routine analytical problems with deep consumer focus, applying advanced analytical methods as needed, including big data analysis (using SQL, R, Python), visualization (Tableau) and digital analytics tools (Adobe/Omniture analytics).
  • Deep familiarity with very large data sources and best practice research methods and applied statistics, including sampling approaches, causal modeling, time series analysis, and datamining techniques in capturing and predicting consumer sentiment, behavior and feedback.
  • Expertise with at least one production-quality programming language (e.g. Java, Python, C++)
  • Experience working in a production environment with large data sets and best practice tools (e.g. cloud architecture, version control, etc.)
  • Demonstrated achievements in solving real-world advanced analytics challenges and managing a complex portfolio and multiple stakeholders in a fast moving, dynamic and matrixed team and business environment
  • Experience developing and executing strategic business processes within a large organization including working with technology partners to deliver information solutions
  • Ability to handle multiple, complex projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills along with interpersonal and influencing skills (at all levels internally, externally and cross-functionally). Experience leading a large team (or groups of teams) and a excellent history of analytical team leadership, communications and building collaborative business partner relationships
  • Experience managing confidential and sensitive corporate data and information.
  • Experience overseeing compliance with data privacy and security policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred experience includes collecting and analyzing data and driving insights to understand and shape customer experiences, merchandising, lifetime value, segmentation, digital marketing, ecommerce or other business outcomes
  • Experience with agile development methodologies preferred
  • Experience in developing an understanding of customers, competitors, and retail trends; knowledge of sports apparel and footwear market preferred.
