Description:

This is a senior-level systems engineering position on our Content Ecosystem – Asset Creation team where you will work on infrastructure and automation for our Photo Studio and Global Writing software development team. The position includes being part of an Agile development team that improves our systems by leveraging cloud infrastructure while ensuring that the production system is stable. This role will have responsibility for automation and security compliance for our custom photo studio software solution and asset delivery infrastructure. An ideal candidate is willing to work in a DevOps mindset to proactively improve and support cloud-deployed applications.

Key Job responsibilities:

  • Develop Infrastructure as Code automation for AWS access and services
  • Support software development team in their build and deployment automation resources
  • Serve as a resource for performance, networking, and security compliance for the team’s AWS account
  • Manage and influence the design for our photo studio and digital asset delivery systems
  • Develop & implement backup strategy for files and data
  • Develop and contribute to Observability solutions – including monitoring, alerts, performance dashboards, metrics, etc. Train and guide others on the team.
  • Adopt infrastructure tools and solutions provided by other internal Nike teams
  • Implement principles and solutions that adhere to the AWS Operational Excellence and Well Architected Framework
  • Provide level 3 support (escalations) for platform incidents
  • Collaborate with teams using our tools and environments

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of professional experience in system administration
  • 3 years Linux systems experience with Red Hat, Ubuntu LTS, Amazon Linux or CentOs
  • 2 years of experience with DevOps automation with any of these tools: Jenkins, CircleCI, Puppet, Ansible, or Chef. Also, source code control: Git, GitHub, BitBucket
  • 2+ years of AWS experience covering these areas:
    • S3: access management via policies
    • Elasticsearch: maintain and test snapshots, assist with upgrades
    • EC2 services: managing autoscaling and security groups
    • SQS: queue creation and maintenance
    • Cloudfront: configuration and understanding of CDNs
    • Experience with Cloudwatch and integrating Cloudwatch with tools like SignalFx, New Relic, etc.
    • Redshift: manage Redshift cluster
    • RDS MySQL: backups, security, configuration
    • Experience building, automating and managing custom AMIs
    • Knowledge of AWS Well Architected Framework and Operational Excellence
    • Working knowledge of AWS EC2 instance types cost and performance factors
  • Experience with container technology – Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • 2 years programming experience in Python/Ruby/Bash
  • Agile/Scrum/Kanban experience
  • Monitoring: Hands on experience with monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Signal Fx, Nagios, New Relic, Splunk
  • Networking – Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking, HTTP/S, firewalls, and networking within AWS
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including mentoring and training
  • Demonstrated excellent documentation skills
  • Comfortable working in an exciting, goal-oriented environment
  • Ability to work with remote teams, and communicate using virtual communication tools (phone, conferencing, online meeting, Slack)
  • AWS Certification desired
  • Ability/willingness to work flexible hours

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems or other relevant subject area preferred
