EBSCO Information Services is seeking a Senior User Experience Researcher to join their UX Research team in Ipswich, MA.

You will be a seasoned professional with a passion for creative and dynamic insights that help teams build better products that lead the market. You will have a proven track record of designing and delivering a wide range of research projects and be comfortable with traditional and new approaches in participant recruitment, research methodology, and reporting. Delivering powerful and impactful research that drives business outcomes will be all in a day’s work.

Primary Responsibilities

User Research/Primary Research:

  • Conduct user research on items in the product pipeline and on the release schedule, including:
  • Determine appropriate user research method for topic
  • Independently write research proposals, test plans, and scripts
  • Act as a lead facilitator during research sessions
  • Write a final report with actionable recommendations
  • Present final report to project teams
  • Contribute to the searchable research repository of information on users, behaviors, and research conclusions.
  • Conduct periodic user testing on competitor sites
  • Write/contribute articles to industry journals on topics related to user research, approaches, and methodologies
  • Present findings to customers in partnership with Sales or at industry conferences

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience with user experiences research methods such as live and remote usability testing, surveys, interviews, contextual inquiry, and other research methods.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills, to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and distill high-level information into details and recommendations.
  • Solid interviewing skills, to speak with individuals and groups of representative users about their needs and ask the right questions to surface essential requirements information.
  • Critical listening skills, to understand what people say, probe when appropriate, and help them to articulate their true needs.
  • Facilitation skills, to lead user research sessions.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Organizational skills, to work with the vast array of information gathered during elicitation and analysis and to cope with rapidly changing information.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills, to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders.
  • Graphics & modeling experience a plus, to represent concepts in graphical form – wireframes, mocks, prototypes.
  • Experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies a plus.
  • The ideal candidate is familiar with library systems and the library technology industry. Knowledge of online database research products, institutional repositories.
