Multiple Openings. Software Engineer III (Operational Engineering/ Emerging Systems) for Wayfair LLC in Boston, MA. Design and develop applications for e-Commerce platform; develop software to resolve business problems and develop creative solutions to meet business needs; design large e-Commerce systems and develop applications using Apache Kafka, SQL servers, Java/ PHP/ Python, HTML/CSS, React/ React Native, Solr, ElasticSearch, Hadoop, Vertica, and Redis; run a modified LAMP stack; design databases; develop queries and stored procedures for database optimization; and mentor junior Software Engineers. Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus two years’ experience performing HTML, SQL, and Java design and development or, alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and five years’ experience performing HTML, SQL, and Java design and development. One year of experience must include: Performing scripting using Python and Shell scripting; Performing version control using GIT; Performing design and development using HTML, CSS and JavaScript to create scalable applications; Employing engineering and optimization best practices regarding frontend web standards, code maintainability, page rendering, and browser performance; Developing web applications to ensure cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility; Defining test plans and performing unit testing; Performing SQL database development including designing queries, triggers and stored procedures, performance tuning, and performing data ETL; Interfacing with business product leaders and engineers to gather requirements and translate requirements into system design; Performing back-end system design and architecture definition and performance optimization using Java; and Performing Java code development for data streaming and processing.
